From an early age I have always been fascinated by colour! One of my earliest memories of making art is of frantically scribbling on my chalk board with a fistful of coloured chalks trying to capture the glittering colourful essence of fireworks I had seen age 5. Since then I have been inspired and enthralled by the multitude of colours visible to the eye, especially those present in the natural world.
It is when I am in nature or around God’s creation that I am most inspired and one of my favourite places to go for inspiration are aquariums or botanical gardens. With the diversity of the patterns, forms and colours in nature, I find it hard to believe that it there is not a divine creator who has, by his hand designed all of creation in minute detail. Through my work, my aim is to draw people to God’s beauty and love with the aim that they would also see this and that he would be glorified.
I had the privilege of being a member of an outreach team to Spain over the Easter of 2009 with Artslink and it was one of the most inspiring, valuable and humbling experiences of my life. It also confirmed to me that God has specially gifted artists to share the good news and that there is a place for the arts in the church. Art is life giving and a reflection of God, the greatest artist of all.
